China Adds Emergency Medical Materials Worth 10 Million Yuan toSupport Sierra Leone in Controlling Ebola

Mr. Xu Zhou, spokesman of the Chinese Embassy announced in Freetown on Thursday, 8th August that China will add a batch of medical materials valued at RMB 10,000,000 Yuan (equally 1,626,000 USD) to support the Government of Sierra Leone in the prevention and control of Ebola.
This new batch of medical materials is scheduled to be airlifted to Sierra Leone early next week by a China chartered cargo airplane.

He added that the Chinese government has been following the development of Ebola since it broke out in Sierra Leone’s neighboring countries in February. In late April, the Chinese government provided a batch of medical materials valued at RMB 1,000,000 Yuan (equally 162,600 USD) to support Sierra Leone in the prevention of Ebola.

Recently, the spread of Ebola has become so severe that it has caused hundreds of causalities and constituted a challenge to Sierra Lone.

In response to the State of Public Emergency declared by President Ernest Bai Koroma, China has decided to add more assistance to further supportSierra Leone in continuous fighting against Ebola.

He indicated that the increase of assistance to Sierra Leone further demonstrated the brotherly relations between China and Sierra Leone. He hoped that these medical materials to be provided by China will help Sierra Leone control Ebola at an early time.

Thanks!
