Le 605 Million Added to Ebola Fund

As government continues to demonstrate firm commitment towards the eradication of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), the sum of Le 605 million cash donations from TELTAC Africa, the local tourism sector and members of the Freetown Dinner Club on Thursday 7th August were presented to President Ernest Bai Koroma at State House.

Samir Yansaneh on behalf of TELTAC Africa donated a cheque of Le 500 million, the tourism sector in collaboration with the National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone donated Le 55 million, and the Freetown Dinner Club donated Le 50 million.

Commending the various organizations during the donations at State House, President Koroma expressed profound gratitude to the organizations for their response to government’s call in fighting this menace.

Acknowledging the fact that the disease is new to the country, President Koroma went on to underscore the importance of stabilizing the situation and called on all Sierra Leoneans to be fully involved. 

He handed over the cheques to the Deputy Minister 2 of Health and Sanitation, Foday Sawi, for judicious use of the Ebola funds.
