Ministry of Health and Sanitation Ebola outbreak update:



As of today, 4th August 2014, we have 159 cumulative number of survivors, 576 confirmed Ebola cases and 211Ebola confirmed deaths. 95 patients are currently admitted at the Ebola treatment centers in Kenema and Kailahun.

The Cumulative number of probable cases as of today, 4th August 2014 is 49 and probable deaths is 34 (Probable cases and deaths are those that cases and deaths that have epidemiological link to an Ebola confirmed case, but may not have been confirmed through laboratory test)

The cumulative number of suspected cases as of 4th August 2014 is 66 and cumulative number of suspected deaths is 5 (Suspected cases and deaths are those that meet the case definition of Ebola, but may not have epidemiological link to an Ebola confirmed case)

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) established at the World Health Organization Country Office in Freetown and Chaired by the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Miatta Kargbo, with Dr. Jacob Mufunda (WHO) country Representative as co-chair is the center command, control and communications for Ebola activities and response in Sierra Leone. The EOC in order to ensure harmony with the country’s development partners in reporting data on the current outbreaks to the public, on 2nd August, 2014 agreed that data for Probable and Suspected cases and deaths be included in the daily reports sent out so that all cases and deaths can be captured in the reportscommunicated to the public.
