Cyclists Mohamed Thorley schedule to start his race by the end of the week is missing from the games Village whilst Moses Sesay who had been admitted for the past two days is still not fit to compete.

Thorley left the village in the morning hours of Monday leaving his room keys behind. Cyclist President Winston Crowther did not confirm whether the cyclist is missing but told journalists that Thorley is yet to return to the village.

Mohamed Thorley is slated to race on Thursday 31st July 2014 in the city of Glasgow. He is one of two cyclists from Sierra Leone that travel with the Country’s Commonwealth delegation to the competition. His disappearance dents a blow on Sierra Leone’s participation in the cycling race with Moses Sesay already out of the competition due to illness.

Sierra Leone so far has performed poorly in the 2014 games. None of the athletes that have competed were able to progress beyond the preliminary stages. The country sprinters have all gone out of the competition including Judo competitors, Boxers and Squash players respectively.

The West African nation’s hopes of winning a medal in this year’s games is far from reached with the games fast approaching the end of the competition.

In wrestling Sierra Leone Alpha Bangura was in action on Tuesday morning but could not make it through. He was defeated by Nigeria M. Bibo in the 74 Kilogram fight by 8 point to zero. Its took the Nigerian just ten minutes to defeat Bangura who scoring all eight points without a reply from the man from Sierra Leone.

This was Bangura’s first fight in the ongoing games and could not make it to the second rounds. His counterpart Abdulai Rogers takes to the ring today Wednesday after a decision would have been reached on his possible opponent.

Everything in the Sierra Leone camp seem to going wrong, the delegation did not travel with team doctor and sick athletes had to rely on the British medical team for help.

The boxing team went without a qualified coach and had to make use of other coaches from other African participating countries to accompany boxers to the ring for a fight. The rules of the commonwealth games are clear no unqualified coach is allowed to accompany a boxer to the ring and that is the situation Sierra Leone finds herself at the 20th edition of the commonwealth games.

Meanwhile, the missing boxer who left the village in the morning hours on Monday 28th July is yet to return to the camp. All his phones are switch off and there is no news about his whereabouts at the moment. Thorley was slated to race on Thursday 31st July 2014, his first ever commonwealth games competition and first ever competitive games outside Africa.
