Recalling his brief encounter with the deceased Head of State, Ambassador Sorie wrote, “personally the late President became a friend of mine during the last visit in Brussels for the EU-Africa Summit when he invited me to sit with him in the midst of his colleague Heads of State where I should actually not be sitting, but the old man insisted that I should sit with him”.

After the signing ceremony, Ambassador Sorie held consolatory talks with some female staff at the Embassy and sympathize with them over the loss of their President.

The late Zambia President died in a London hospital on October 28th, 2014.
